Biography for MeyeMusic and Running Rock Records

Rick Meyers was raised in a small town in southern Michigan between Detroit and Chicago. The late 50’s and early 60’s were highly influential in developing his taste for Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Pop, and Rock music. He remembers Bo Diddly playing at a High School dance, buying a pair of blue suede shoes, and dancing to all the Motown greats. College in the late sixties and early seventies put him in touch with the revolutionary music of the British Invasion, Psychedelic Rock, Folk, and the Social Protest Movement. The music of that era was grown out of conflict and a new found freedom. Rick’s music is rooted there.

Before Rick listened to R&B, Soul, Rock, and Folk music, he was weaned and raised on Sacred and Classical music, as his mother was a Classical pianist and Church organist.
His encounters with Bach, Beetovan, Chopan, Chant, and Hymns have impacted his understandings of contemporary music.

His music is Eclectic. His Album takes the listener into a broad variety of Rock music that includes Jazz, Soul, World, Euro, Folk, Country, and what he calls “Running Rock.”
It’s a running dialogue between the many varieties of Rock and Deep Soul which he feels at the core of his being.

Rick’s music always has a message. It’s about awakening, commitment, and expanding consciousness. It’s passionate and heart felt with layers of meaning and a wry sense of humor. When asked if I’d like his music, he answered with a smile: “Taste and See.”

When Rick's not doing music, he's a psychotherapist, educator, priest, executive coach, rancher, husband and father. Rick’s music? “Taste and see.” It ranks as some of the best I’ve heard in a very long time. Fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride.
